Back in August, we found out I was pregnant. Long story short, when you are going through fertility treatments, it can be a bit stressful. Make that A LOT stressful. I might have told Greg a little fib and said I was finding out with a blood test from the doctor’s office if I was pregnant or not a day later than I actually was going to find out. I wanted to save Greg from the stress of waiting to hear back from the doctor’s all day long. I figured if we weren’t pregnant the bad news would just be like ripping off a band aid when I told him, quick and over with before he knows it! But if I was pregnant, I could surprise him! You know, like a normal healthy couple. Instead of a couple that had a wife injecting herself with a ton of hormones for weeks.
So the morning came to find out. I went in for the blood test nice and early, and didn’t hear back from them until late afternoon. It was a long day to say the least. After coming to from the shock of the good news, I scrambled on how to surprise Gregory. He was getting off work soon and I had to think quick. I was on my way to a photo session that evening so I had him meet me at a park to pick up Lydia. She just happened to be wearing a shirt with “big sister” written on the back and holding a pink and blue balloon.
Greg might have taken a bit longer than he said to show up. My girl got bored.
Finally, Greg shows up! Lydia was ready to surprise that Daddy of her’s.
Look closely, pure confusion and amazement on his face.
After his shock wore off, I explained the news from my day. He was a pretty happy man to say the least.
I was real glad I had my Lydia as my partner in crime.
Woot for baby Simmons #2!
